yes I need help with this too i think, I have explained to a few people but I go by their pages and still some dont have a background....well this is how I explain it.....
You can insert a background code into the "picture description" field when you are adding pictures. (each picture can have a different background). There are some codes listed on this site, under the "Add backgrounds" link on the right.
Or, you can browse the internet for free backgrounds- just find one you like, then right click on it, choose "view background image". (now the image will be smaller) Right click on it again, choose "copy image location". then paste it into the following code-
I don't know if that is confusing or not, lol. hope it helps!

I forgot too add, you cannot copy/paste on this website using your mouse. Instead, highlight then control+c to copy, control+v to paste.

| To use your own background |
This is how I have explained it:
Upload your pic or graphic makng sure it is either .jpg, jpeg or .gif. bitmap format first.
Get the url (in photobucket it is the one called "direct link")
Go to the OCB background page
Click on any one of the backgrounds
window pops up
Copy the entire code including all the brackets and ' etc.
What I do is put it in an email and then I copy the url of the uploaded background I want and take out OCB's url replacing it with my own. Then I take the whole code and copy it and place it in the same place where you type in the title of the photo. Any photo description MUST go at the end of the code.
If you do not see it...you might need to delete your temp files.

One note...
Some backgrounds will not work on here. They tend to conflict with our sites coding.
If you notice your page formatting is suddenly messed up, delete the background and try another site.
We will eventually be putting up many more backgrounds for you to select from, thanks to SonShine and ThatsAllFolks.

Amendale, in your instructions, I think it is important that you tell them to right click and save as whatever the name you give it. Then upload the graphic to THEIR OWN site such as photobucket.com.
If you use the url of some site...do not be surprised if suddenly it disappears! It is called "stealing band width". Not sure if this makes sense to you but I will TRY to explain.
When you own a site you pay for it. You are given X amount of space. Depending how much you pay. You are expected to keep your uploads on your site, not supposed to use them elsewhere on the net. If you do, it will end up costing you more money a month because you are using more "band width" space that belongs to them...(the site).
I run a Memorial Page for my High School. I have only one time used an upload from my site to post here. It was the Aussie Jingle Bells song. Now that Christmas is over I need to delete that from here. If I don't, they may delete it or worse yet, charge me more money!
When you upload to your own site...it will stay put too. If the owner of the url decided to delete his or her upload, you are out of luck. Your background will disappear. If it was something you really wanted, you will never get it back again!
Photobucket is free. I do not even understand how they can remain free!?! Advertisers on the site are paying our free ride! I have never even clicked on one advertismet on the site yet! It's such a great site that I would even pay for it! It doesn't matter to me if people want to use my upload from there because I don't pay for it. But don't be too confident that I might not delete it. I probably would never know somebody else was using it!
Moral of this long story is: Save to your own hardrive and upload to your own site. You will not lose your picture or graphic.

I made it into an image, lol. and I agree, photobucket is an awesome site. (used that to post it)
Thank you for the thing about "stealing bandwidth"- I had no idea, or at least i didnt think about it. I will make sure to save all my own backgrounds now. (I have with most of them) - is it also this way with sites offering "free backgrounds"? this is where i get mine....

i can't figure it out i tried using photobucket and following the instrustions...but i only know how to use imikimi for my background...i want to learn how to use photobucket!!!

You girls are in the big league now...no more tinypix or imikimi...from now on...it is going to only be photobucket.com, ok? If you pick another one...I don't know how to use it...then this could take forever. If we all use the same one though, we can all help each other.

i dont ever use any of theose except photobucket. but here is my problem...i dont know how to make the background, so she did it for me. how do i get the background SHE made and put it on my photobucket?

For right now...this is going to be called an image.
Background is only the code that tells that image what to do.

Whoa, if you can get away from tinypic.com, I would.
That place can be very corrosive. I've seen it wreak a whole forum before.
Photobucket is safe, and it doesn't need to drop it's own name in everything!
