Noah is really starting to worry me. Either he is really lazy or he really is suffering from a speech delay. The Dr. referred us to this clinic but I haven't called them yet. Dr.s at times are quick to assume things and never really give us a reason as to why? My son is bilingual and I believe he could have a problem with comprehending the two languages? Is anyone else experiencing this same problem?
Thats about all Katie says maybe a few more. I wouldn't worry about it. My son was a late talker as well. He is 5 1/2 and extremly smart kid. When he was about 2 1/2 he just started blurting out words.
i wouldn't worry too much either. He's not 2 yet so don't sweat it. He's just absorbing it all right now and when you least expect it he'll start talking.
hmm i cant help you out. my daughter was extremely above average for talking as she was talking sentences and hundreds of words by 18 months old. but my nephew didnt really start talking till after he turned 2!! i wouldnt be worried about it. my other nephew now is 21 months and barely says anything. i foudn out thats normal b/c i dont know what normal is, b/c of madison being such a good early talker. he will be fine!!!!!!! all of sudden, you wont be able to shut him up! LOL
My foster son started out the same way...we had a Speech Eval. done, but I wanted to give him alittle bit more time. He turned 2 in August and says so much more now!!! Don't worry yet...kids develop at much different rates...of course, stay on top of it...but give him some more time...esp. since he is learning both languages! I teach Kindergarten, and I talk to my son, Wyatt and my foster son...both who are 2...just like "little" Kindergarteners...you would be surprised what they can pick up! Don't "baby" him too much...talk to him...and he will get the hang of it. Good Luck!
skye will say words but then wont say them until a month later.....i would say maybe give him more time!! if the doc wants him to see someone aske them to explain why:)
dayton is spoken to in thai and english. and for the longest it was very hard to understand what she was saying but now at age 2 and a half she is non stop talking. i wouldnt worry to much~~she says a few words in thai and speaking in sentences in english~
I wouldn't worry about it either. a couple that are friend of my hubby and I..their daughter started talking later than clay did and she's 7 months older. She hardly said anything at all when she was your son's age. then after she got to be 2 ..2 1/2 and then she started talking real well..and she understands things well also. she turned 3 in october. don't sweat it. one day out of the blue he'll just start saying all this stuff you didn't even know he knew. how much does he understand? as far as putting things away or telling him to go throw something in the trash.or whatever..
