So Kayla was in daycare from 2-4 then home for 1.5 years then to Kindergarten. RJ is at home with me or my mom. so Ive been looking for ways to get him used being in a "class" room setting. He loves the library, we go once a week with Kayla so I signed him up for Story time with mom.!!
Its been great, The librarian reads a few books, they do a few songs that have commands like jump, clap, etc. then they have a bunch of toys that they can play with. Its about an hour and its totally free.
yes, i have taken my son to the library time. but he doesnt do very well, he gets really bored and starts crying and pulling on me. he wants to get off my lap and crawl around and play with the other kids, lol. maybe when he is a bit older. for now we just go and get books and come home.
I thought RJ would be the same way...he's very obedient but not really into sitting for anything! LOL and he didnt do any of the commands (jumping etc...) but when we got home he asked me to sing the song and he did them! The librarian said thats typical for a boy his age but said he did really good by sitting for the whole reading part.
I wouldnt start him earlier, but Kayla wouldve loved as a 1 yr old.....Boys will definately be boys!! LOL
MY KIDS GO TO STORYHOUR EVERY MONDAY***MY OLDEST HAS BEEN GOING SINCE HE WAS 18 MONTHS*** HE IS NOW 4 1/2 YEARS****THEY READ BOOKS,DANCE AND WATCH A MOVIE***
i take michael every tuesday. we've been going since he was about year old but he never really was interested in it. i would just go once a month but the past few months we've been going more. Since he turned 2 he's been so into it it's great! he listens to the stories now and does the songs and then they do a craft project which he loves! all the librarians in there love him! He also likes to play the computer games.
That sounds like something I might want to try with Kayley. I wonder if my library has it. I probably won't start until Ryan goes back to school in the fall though unless they have one for his age also.
i think most libraries have them. i think it's a great way to get them started in groups. My son is home with me all the time and i'm not ready for daycare yet so this is a good start.
We were going to the one in St.Petersburg but now we just moved to Ala - I know they offer it at the Library here I just have to find out what times/days they do it on - but I just hope its as nice as the one in Florida was The lady is awesome she blows bubbles, sings songs, reads 2 books, teaches them ABC's & counting games and gives them a cookie at the end -LOL - all for free
Here are some pics from our Last visit before we moved this week
We already have 2 more Library activities were going to...I think its a great way to get kids interested in the library and thye do a lot of kid related fun activities all for FREE! abd you dont have to worry about it being approiate for kids, they always are!
This Saturday we have Touch a truck day. They are having over 20 different trucks there. Fire trucks, trash trucks, buses, even a horse trailer. Its 2 hours and the kids can get in some of them and take pics and ask questions....RJ is gonna love it!
